Located on Donner Summit near Lake Tahoe, Sugar Bowl Ski Team lays the foundation for passionate skiers to embrace challenge with grit, grace and courage.
Throughout Sugar Bowl Ski Team's history, countless individuals have been incredibly generous with their time, energy and talents. Our organization couldn't do it without the support of our amazing families!
All Ski Team families are expected to volunteer 22 hours each season. There are plenty of opportunities — you can read about some of our regular opportunities here — and you can see and sign up for current opportunities by clicking the button below.
Please check back later for updated volunteer opportunities.
Set up and clean up for lunch happens every day that ski team is scheduled. The primary duty for lunch set up is to place tables and chairs and move the couches out of the way in the Great Room of Village Hall. The primary duty for lunch clean up is to wipe down and put away all of the tables and chairs. Volunteers also need to vacuum and pick up all trash around the Great Room and return furniture to its place. Please remember that every family must volunteer for at least one lunch set up and two lunch clean ups per our volunteer requirement in the handbook.
As a parent sweeper you will be helping our Mini Mite and Mighty Mite coaches with the safe loading and unloading of our athletes on the chairlift. You will also be a “caboose” while skiing with the group. This opportunity is available every scheduled ski team day.
Sugar Bowl hosts competitions that are critical for athlete development, as well as financial and mission success. A competition volunteer is assigned a specific duty on the day of an event. It could include gate keeping (no prior experience needed), backup timing, scoreboard recording, etc. You can participate in this opportunity even if you do not ski. Please remember that every family must help for at least one competition annually per our volunteer requirement.
Throughout the season, Sugar Bowl Ski Team hosts a number of functions. We can always us help with set up and/or clean up before/after the events. Set up could include decorating, moving furniture, organizing tables and place settings for dinners. Clean up could include clearing dishes, rinsing dishes and breaking down the event decorations.
