Located on Donner Summit, Sugar Bowl Ski Team lays the foundation for passionate skiers to embrace challenge with grit, grace and courage

Meet Your Training Grounds

Sugar Bowl Resort is perched atop Donner Summit in the heart of the Sierra Nevada Mountains near beautiful Lake Tahoe, California. It’s one of the closest major ski areas to the San Francisco Bay Area, just off Interstate 80, and above the town of Truckee, CA. It’s well known for its long history, significant advanced terrain and high annual snowfall.

The mountain’s 1650 skiable acres includes 98 trails and 1500 vertical feet, spanning four peaks; the tallest – Mount Lincoln – reaches an elevation of 8,383 feet.

Nordic athletes train nearby at Sugar Bowl’s own Royal Gorge Cross-Country Resort, North America’s largest XC venue. It has 200 km of Nordic trails spanning 6,000 acres of terrain.

Sugar Bowl has been family owned since the beginning in 1939. Much of its historic charm is still maintained within the modern resort. Touches of Austrian character and Bavarian styling provide a glimpse into Hannes Schroll's and other founders' vision for this unique mountain.
