Have you always wanted to feel the rush of adrenaline as you fly past gates in Sugar Bowl’s Race Arena? Wanted to explore Sugar Bowl and Royal Gorge Nordic trails with an expert? Wondered about a day in the life of a Sugar Bowl Ski Team Snow Ranger?
SBSTA, in partnership with the Sugar Bowl Ski Club, is pleased to announce Adult Ski Opportunities for the 2018 season! Join SBSTA parents and other snow enthusiasts for these exciting sessions. All sessions will meet at Village Hall and run from 9:00 AM to noon (consider hitting the Belt Room afterwards to swap stories over a beverage).
What conversations happen before going on a ski tour? What terrain is selected and why? How do you travel safely through avalanche terrain? What is inside of that backpack? Join head coach Jon Rockwood for a morning of backcountry skiing conversations and a look inside of one of the only youth backcountry ski programs in the country. The morning will begin in Village Hall with a discussion of the day’s conditions and then move to a "guided inbounds tour". No backcountry gear needed. Intermediate ski ability please.
Come enjoy the cross-country ski trails from Sugar Bowl alongside Sugar Bowl Ski Team staff. We will give some pointers as we ski around Van Norden and other scenic trails. Learn more about the sport of Nordic skiing and how to improve to maximize your enjoyment of the sport! Cross-country ski equipment and Royal Gorge trail pass required (you can rent at the Village Station XC). No previous cross-country skiing experience required.
SBSTA’s world-class Alpine coaching staff will give you an introduction to running a giant slalom course in Sugar Bowl’s Race Arena. Learn basic tactics and strategy as you take a few practice runs, then put yourself to the test with a timed run. No special equipment required. Intermediate or better skiing ability please.
All events are weather and condition-permitting. Any cancelled event will be rescheduled to Saturday, March 10th.
Cost: $35 per session or $100 for all 3 (Use code ALLPCKG at check out). Participants must have the appropriate equipment and lift/trail pass. All sessions will meet at Village Hall and run from 9:00 AM to noon (consider hitting the Belt Room afterwards to swap stories over lunch and a beverage). All participants must complete an SBSTA liability waiver. Cancellations prior to the day of the event, will be full refunded.
