Uniform PolicyTeam uniforms are required on the hill and during races unless you are in your speed suit. All athletes will receive information about purchasing their uniforms. Practice Cancellation PolicyAlpine skiing is a sport that takes place in a mountain environment. As such, practice is impacted by weather and snow conditions that may affect the safety of team members. While training and learning skiing skills is the main purpose of the Ski Team, safety is our prime concern. At times, weather and snow conditions may dictate that, due to safety issues, team practice must be cancelled. In consideration of logistical matters related to travel to the area for many families, team management, in consultation with the coaches, will make a determination as early in the day as possible regarding whether or not practice will be held. This will generally occur by 7:00 am on the morning of the practice. Decisions are based on information available to team management and coaches at the time. Many factors are considered, including current and predicted precipitation, wind conditions, lift closures, road conditions and avalanche safety. Management and coaches will also take into consideration the age and training levels of various team programs, and may cancel some programs but not others on a given day. A determination on practice cancellation may also occur later in the day should weather conditions change, such that practice may be held in the morning but cancelled in the afternoon. Every effort will be made to hold practice as long as, in the considered opinion of the management and staff, the safety of team members can be prioritized. We understand that families make plans based on team schedules and may be disappointed or inconvenienced by these necessary cancellations. All families should be aware of the possibility of practice cancellation and plan accordingly. Parents should check team hotlines frequently for updates to avoid unnecessary trips. There will be no dues refunds as a result of practice cancellation. The Sugar Bowl Ski Team Foundation admits participants (students and athletes) of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students and athletes in our programs. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other foundation-administered programs. |
