Dear SBST Families,
While the ski season may seem like a long way off for many of you, Academy students and families kicked off the 2013-2014 school year earlier today, bringing vibrancy to the Ski Team's base at Village Hall.
Much of our work over the past few months has been planning for and executing the Ski Team & Academy leadership transition. One of our major goals for the summer was to hire a Director of Athletic Programs, and based on multiple interviews as well as extensive conversation with the search committee and key members of the coaching community, we have decided that our best move at this juncture is to hire an Interim Director of Athletics for the coming season as we continue the search for a Director of Athletic Programs. Expert input from several senior members of the U.S. coaching community indicates that many top candidates will become available upon the conclusion of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games.
With all of the above in mind, and in consultation with the Board of Trustees, we are pleased to announce that Bill Hudson has accepted the position of Interim Director of Athletic Programs for the year and will extend his tenure with the Ski Team & Academy through April.
The Board of Trustees and staff are excited to have Bill take on this role. Having turned over the reigns of the Ski Team & Academy, he will have the time and energy to fully devote himself to the development of our coaches and athletes. In addition, Bill's connections within the ski community will allow him to not only recruit athletes and coaches for our program, but to also search out individuals who are qualified to work as the long-term Director of Athletic Programs. We know Bill will take on this new role with the same passion and enthusiasm that he has displayed over the last ten years.
We look forward to another outstanding season and to seeing all of you up here on the summit soon.
